Privacy policy

Worden is designed for Bible study on your device. You can read, study words, and search without creating an account.

What stays on your device

The iPhone app stores your reading position, saved passages, recent study activity, navigation state, and reading preferences locally. It also stores search text, including voice transcripts submitted as searches and search context associated with recent passages, so you can continue your study.

Worden does not send this reading or search activity to us. The app has no advertising, third-party analytics SDKs, account system, or app-operated cloud sync.

Microphone and voice search

Voice search is optional. With your permission, Worden uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to turn speech into a search query. Microphone audio is processed temporarily and is not saved by the app or sent to us. Recording stops when you finish or cancel voice input or when the session is interrupted.

Enhanced speech recognition may require downloading a language model from Apple using an internet connection. If on-device recognition is unavailable, you can type your search. Submitted transcripts are treated like typed search text and may remain in local study state.

You can change microphone and speech-recognition permissions in iPhone Settings.

Sharing, links, and Apple services

Copy and Share act only when you choose them. If you share a passage, the app or service you select receives that content under its own privacy practices. Opening a website, a source credit, the App Store, or a support email uses the relevant browser, mail app, or Apple service.

Apple manages App Store downloads, optional speech-model downloads, device backups, and any diagnostics you choose to share through Apple's services under Apple's privacy policy.

Testing a beta through TestFlight

If you install a Worden beta through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with us. This can include device and app versions, installation and session counts, and your name and email address. TestFlight does not provide an opt-out for this automatic beta collection. Feedback you choose to send, including comments or screenshots, is also shared with us.

We use this information to investigate problems and improve Worden. We keep information we retain only as long as needed to resolve beta issues and related follow-up, or meet applicable obligations, and do not share TestFlight information with third parties. Contact support@wordenapp.com for questions or deletion requests. Apple's own retention and processing are described in TestFlight & Privacy. This beta-testing process is separate from the app's local reading and search storage.

This website

Cloudflare hosts and protects wordenapp.com. When you visit, Cloudflare processes connection information such as your IP address, browser information, and requested URLs to deliver and secure the website. Its security services may use cookies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We do not add advertising trackers or analytics scripts to this website, and it has no account or newsletter signup.

When you contact support

If you email support@wordenapp.com, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. Our email providers process these messages to deliver them. We use this information to answer your request and retain correspondence only as needed to handle support and follow-up, or meet applicable obligations. You can request deletion by contacting the same address. Please avoid including sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.

Removing your data

You can remove individual saved passages in the app. Clearing the search field does not remove all search context from recent study activity. To remove all locally stored Worden data, delete the app from your iPhone; offloading the app retains its data.

Your device or iCloud backups may contain app data depending on your Apple settings. Manage those backups separately in Apple's settings. We cannot access or delete data stored only on your device or in your backups.

Changes and questions

This policy covers the current iPhone app and website. We will update it when these practices change, including before an Android release with different data handling. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
